Leadership Program

Step Up, Lead, and Inspire

At Elk Creek Ranch, we believe leadership is learned through experience and responsibility. Our Leadership Program offers returning campers the chance to take on greater roles within the camp community. To participate, ranchers must attend at least two sessions over the course of two different summers, and the minimum age for the program is 15.

The Leadership Program provides hands-on opportunities for participants to guide younger campers, assist with ranch operations, and develop key leadership skills. Leadership participants arrive early for orientation, gaining additional responsibilities across ranch projects, outdoor activities, and team management. This program fosters confidence, teamwork, and the skills necessary to lead in any environment. Many of our former Leadership Program participants have gone on to become junior or senior counselors, continuing the tradition of mentorship at Elk Creek Ranch.

Community Service

Stewardship of Sunlight Valley and Beyond

At Elk Creek Ranch, community service remains a core part of our mission to foster responsibility and environmental stewardship. Over the years, campers have embraced opportunities to give back to the land that offers us so much, from helping put out a forest fire to maintaining the scenic Sunlight Road.

As part of our commitment to preserving the wilderness, Ranchers actively clear and maintain trails used for our rides and trips. This work not only ensures safe and enjoyable experiences but also teaches campers valuable lessons in conservation, teamwork, and responsibility.

By caring for the trails and the land, we aim to inspire future generations to play an active role in preserving the beauty and vitality of the wilderness for years to come.
